A recent survey by the National Restaurant Association shows that 40% of foodservice customers nationwide take sustainability into account when choosing a place to dine. That kind of public
response is proof that 'green' is the way to go. But, with food prices skyrocketing, how will you satisfy your customers, green your restaurant and stay afloat?
The Oakland Restaurant Association, Food Service Technology Center and StopWaste.Org present a learning event exclusively for busy Oakland restaurant owners and managers. Designed by successful
industry veteran Mark Everton, manager of Joie de Vivre’s Waterfront Hotel & Miss Pearl’s Jam House, you’ll meet local sustainability experts and select vendors and learn simple, practical
strategies that will help you become greener and more profitable.
This morning event will be broken into three parts:
• 9:00-10:00 micro sustainability expo - meet the green experts one-on-one
• 10:00-11:30 informational breakout sessions – learn successful green strategies
• 11:30-noon sustainability expo conclusion – get your questions answered!
The breakout sessions will be short, informational (no sales) and will be repeated. We know you are busy, so there is no requirement to stay for the whole event. Attend the parts that are available
to you and get the info that is most helpful.
Speakers and Vendors will include:
StopWaste.Org and ESA – Set up and maintain a restaurant organics collection program
Oakland Shines and Lodging Savers – Energy efficient equipment upgrades with minimum or no costs
PG&E Food Service Technology Center – Get free energy audits, design advice, and utility rebates
